Obituary

Wyama Weatherred, 91, of Denton, formerly of Kress, passed away on August 3, 2016, in Lexington, KY.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Kress Cemetery.

Wyama was born on August 9, 1924 in Winchester, KY to Arthur George and Bernice (Conlee) Johnson. She married W.C. Weatherred, Jr. in 1953 and they were married until his passing in 1998. Wyama graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Elementary Education and remained a Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan her entire life. She taught in the Kress Independent School District for many years until her retirement. Wyama was a kind, loving, devoted person. She cared deeply for kids and even after retiring from teaching, she continued to tutor as many students as possible. She was a Christian woman who was always involved in church activities. Wyama attended the Kress Church of Christ. She loved her family very much. She was vibrant and active her whole life and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by W.C., her beloved husband of 45 years; her son, Jon Weatherred; one brother, George Johnson and two sisters, Indianola Aldridge and Katherine Fugitt.

Those left to cherish her memory are one son, William Stanley "Stan" Weatherred and wife Leighann, of Levelland; two daughters, Leigh Sims and husband Philip of Haskell, Stacy Davis and husband Mitch of Denton. She is also survived by one brother, William "Bill" Johnson, of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Jo Scott of Abilene; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
