Dr. William Mays Osborne, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in Dallas, Texas. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.
Much loved father, grandfather and respected doctor passed in his sleep Tuesday November 9, 2021. He was 87. Born April 16th, 1934, in Plainview Texas. He attended Baylor University in Waco. In August 1956 married Betty Jean Graham from Canyon Texas. In September 1959 he obtained his medical license, later joined the Air Force as an officer, and finally settled in Dallas in 1963. Oz (the name he was known by) was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church in downtown Dallas then later Royal Lane Baptist Church in Dallas. He was a member of the choir and orchestra. He was a well-respected orthopedic surgeon and served a time as the chief of orthopedics at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas. He is survived by his sister Margaret Rathkamp and her husband Vernon of San Antonio, a son Steve Osborne, his wife Beverly, grandson Brady Osborne, and grandson Kendal Osborne and his wife Audra of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and his long-term caregiver Clarice Bishop of Midlothian. There will be a graveside service in Plainview, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness or the charity of your choice.
