Walter Yarbrough, 87, of Plainview, TX. (previously of Goodland, KS of 50+years) passed away on February 13, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas.

Walter was born on August 27, 1938, in Hubbard, Texas to Albert and Emma Lou (Hammonds) Yarbrough. He finished sixth grade and went on to work his life away! He was a farmer in Silverton, TX. He worked on a cattle ranch in Borger TX. He eventually moved to Kanorado, Kansas. There he worked on a farm again for many years. He then moved his family to Goodland, KS and resided there until 2021. While in Goodland, KS he purchased a night club he then continued on to purchase his first 18-wheeler and many more after! He also purchased multiple rental properties around the community, and he finally retired from driving semi-trucks in 2012.

Walter was known for his kindness, guidance, caring nature, and generosity. He was known to many as Daddy Walt, Papa Walt, and Uncle Gush! He enjoyed country dancing at his night club, going to the races, and especially loved seeing his kids and all of his grandkids!

Walter is survived by Lee and Donna Yarbrough, Matilda Yarbrough (Midland, TX), Rodney and Ginny Yarbrough (Sharon Springs, KS), Joe Yarbrough (Goodland, KS), Christie Yarbrough (Midland, TX), Clenisha and Christopher Boyer (Kansas City, KS), and Cory and Allie Yarbrough (Catoosa, OK); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Andrew and Nell Yarbrough (Ft. Worth, TX), and Helen Brown (Ft. Worth, TX).

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his daughter Georgia, both parents, many siblings, and many other family members who passed before him.

A Celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 11:00am at Happy Union Baptist Church, 219 E. Givens, Plainview, TX 79072

Walter will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him!
