Valerie L. Fairchild, 95 formerly of Plainview, Texas, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at her residence in Portales, New Mexico. Viewing for Mrs. Fairchild will be at 10:00am, Monday, October 31, 2022, at Lemons Funeral Home followed by a Graveside Service in Parklawn Memorial Gardens at 1:00pm. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Valerie was born September 6,1927, in Oak Grove, Louisiana, to the Late Robert and Callie Lee DeVoter. She married Charlie Fairchild June 8, 1946, in Epps, Louisiana. They were married 45 years until Mr. Fairchild passed away, September 6, 1990. After working 20 years,  she retired as Kitchen Supervisor for the Plainview Hospital.

Mrs. Fairchild loved crocheting, cooking, all animals, and growing plants. She was fun, outgoing, loving and kind, and would make others laugh. She was a good person. More importantly, she loved and knew the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Fairchild, her parents, Robert and Callie Lee DeVoter, four brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Fairchild leaves behind her two daughters, Joyce Hobbs of Portales, New Mexico and Sandra Fairchild Hesseltine of Howe, Texas; two grandchildren, Jeff, and Kelly Gulley both of Louisiana; three great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
