Troy H. Carter, 93 of Plainview, Texas was received into the arms of his Lord and Savior on May 12, 2025. He was joined by his loving companion, Brody just a few hours after.
Troy was born January 11, 1932, in Lockney, Texas to John B. Carter and Willa Mae Wright. He was raised in Texas and California. Troy completed the 11th grade in Lynwood, California, and left school to join the Air Force, only to be discharged later due to being sixteen years old. He then entered the restaurant business with his father in Plainview and ran The Playland while also working in manufacturing ready-built homes. This led to his lifelong work in the construction business. He was involved in many building projects across the state of Texas. After undergoing two heart surgeries, he found a healthy lifestyle and was proud to be the oldest and longest active member of Planet Fitness in Plainview. He enjoyed his afternoon coffee sessions with his friends, outlasting many of their favorite establishments. He was member of the Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ for 42 years where he served as a greeter.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy Carter (Munroe), daughter, Tangy Garrison and husband Larry, daughter, Tina Hamilton, daughter-in-law, Brenda Carter-Neuhold and husband Mike, daughter-in-law, Glenda Kline, ten grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, brother, Ricky, two sons, Randy and Terry, daughter, Brandi and one great grandson.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 16, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ with Elder Aaron Carter officiating. Memorials can be made to the Church or to Lubbock Children's Home. Cremation services are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.
