Toni Leatherwood, 65 of Plainview, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, surrounded by her family. A visitation will be held Monday, May 5, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Lemons Funeral Home. Cremation services are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview, Texas.

Toni was born on September 18,1959 in Tulia, Texas to Carlos and Jo Ann Newby. She graduated from Tulia High School and moved to Plainview soon after. She married Johnny Leatherwood on January 9, 1987 in Plainview, Texas. Toni loved going to the Winstar Casino, horse races and car races. She gradually took over the grandmother role of her nieces and nephews and they adored her. She was known to be sweet and kind.

Toni is survived by her husband, Johnny Leatherwood; her stepson, John Leatherwood; her stepdaughters, Alicia Lavinia and Terasa Leatherwood; and many grandchildren; her three sisters, Sandi Jackson and husband Alan Jackson, Julie White and husband Tom White and Jolene Sanchez and husband Jason Sanchez; three nieces, three nephews, one great niece and one great nephew.

Toni is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Jo Ann Newby; grandparents, Albert and Willie Mae Rowland, Paul Newby and Edith and Roy Belk.
