A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Plainview Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:30-7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Lemons Funeral Home.

Sudie was born on September 14, 1927 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Jim and Ellen (Jarrett) Newkirk. They moved to Plainview in 1948. She married Mal Young Aug. 30, 1948, in Sulphur Springs. They were married until his passing on February 12, 1999.

Sudie worked as a nurse for over 28 years. She loved baseball and she was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers and the Atlanta Braves. During baseball season, she could be found faithfully watching the games on television. When her grandchildren were playing ball, she enjoyed watching their live games. She is remembered as a "people person" who loved to welcome everyone into her home. She found great joy in cooking for everyone. In her later years, she could be found visiting people in the nursing home.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Young and her husband of 51 years, Mal Young.

Survivors include her son, James Young and wife Marilyn, and one daughter, Donna Pauline Moreno, all of Plainview. She is also survived by six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
