Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Kress Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Second Baptist Church, 6109 Chicago Ave, Lubbock, Texas. Arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home, Plainview, Texas.
Stella was born on February 26, 1926 in Farwell, Texas to Hollis Berry and Mabel (Hassler) Strickland. She graduated from Lockney High School and went on to graduate with an Associate's Degree in Education from Wayland Baptist University. She married Robert D. Morton on December 23, 1947.
Stella enjoyed playing the piano and found great satisfaction in bringing joy to others. Before she retired, she enjoyed a career as a teacher's assistant in Kress. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She served as organist for many years at First Baptist, Kress, Texas and she taught piano for over 30 years. She and Robert were members of Second Baptist Church in Lubbock.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters; 1 brother and 2 grandchildren.
Survivors include her beloved husband of over 67 years, Robert; 3 daughters, Brenda Campbell and husband James of Lubbock, Rebecca Pyle and husband Ron of Arlington, Texas and Beverly Kinnibrugh and husband Randal of Vera, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Kyle Kinnibrugh and Sarah Hilton and husband Jared; Nathan Pyle, Ashley Jumper and husband Stephen and 4 grandchildren, Jocelyn and Annabelle Hilton and Caitlin and Joshua Jumper.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
