Sophia Castillo, 84 of Hale Center, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at her residence. The family will host a visitation at 2:00pm until 8:00pm, with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:00pm on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service for Mrs. Castillo will be at 11:00am, Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Iglesia Bautista del Carpintero  in Hale Center. Burial will follow in Hale Center Cemetery. Funeral Services are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Sophia was born on September 24, 1939, in Los Fresnos, Texas to Refugio and Maria Ybarra Castillo. She married Patrick Baca, Sr. on July 21, 1958, and they were married for 25 years.

Sophia loved to ride motorcycles. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking, and making homemade tortillas. She liked watching scary movies, and novelas, as well as dancing, listening to music, and karaoke. She loved family gatherings, especially when she had her six "pollitos" (children) together. She would always say she loved her pollitos.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Baca, Sr., her son, Sammy Baca, her parents, Refugio and Maria Castillo, her brothers: Fidel, Carlos, and Ramiro Castillo.

Sophia is survived by her five children: Alice Guzman and husband, Pete, Patrick Baca, Jr. and wife, Norma, Freddy Baca and wife, Blanca, Sandy Zuniga and husband, Mario, and Louis Baca; one sister, Elida of Austin; her fifteen grandchildren, and her twenty great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers: Elias Valenzuela, Alex Valenzuela, Jeremiah Baca, Patrick Baca III, Zeph Rodriguez, Chris Martinez, Xavier Rodriquez, and Jordan Valenzuela, Christopher Baca.
