Plainview-Simon Hernandez Castillo, born February 18, 1935, in Rio Rico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 23, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Arsenio Redulla officiating. Interment will follow the service in Abernathy Cemetery. Funeral service arrangements are under the care and direction of Lemons Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., today, November 26, 2013 at the funeral home.
Simon married Leonor Botello Rios Castillo on January 1, 1956 in Camargo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She preceded him in death on October 30, 2012. They had four children: son Joe "Andy" Castillo and wife, Pat, of Graham; daughter, Martha Bird and husband, Tommy, of San Marcos; and son, Victor Castillo and partner, Patrick Cook, of San Antonio. He has two granddaughters: Heather Marie Singleton and husband, Dempsey, and Joni Bree Castillo; and two great-grandsons, Dempsey O'Neil and Reece Joseph. He has seven brothers and sisters, two of whom have preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one son, Victor Manuel Castillo.

Simon was a hard worker his whole life. Whether he was out on the tractor plowing those fields or welding at EMCO, he made sure his family's needs were met. He was a generous, kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that will be missed dearly. Simon was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
