Sherwyn Nivens, age 82 of Plainview, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2015 at Lemons Memorial Chapel, 206 W. 8th St. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.

Sherwyn was born May 2, 1933 in Floydada to DeWitt Center and Cecile M. (Covington) Fyffe. She attended West Texas State University and worked for many years as an office manager. She married Arville Nivens in June, 1978 and they were married until his passing in 2001.

Sherwyn enjoyed painting and playing games and especially enjoyed playing marbles. She attended First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arville; one son, Drew Shurbet; 2 brothers and 5 sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Shawn Pate of New Braunfels and Shelby Shurbet of Plainview; one brother, Barry Fyffe and wife Carol; 3 grandchildren, Mesha Box and husband B.K., Kaleb Pate and Hillary Hunt and husband Bobby. She is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren and 3 step children, Carla Gray, Debby Nix and Danny Nivens.
