Severo G. Perez, Jr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Sunday, January 13, 2019. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 o' clock in the morning on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Raymundo Manriquez celebrating and Father Bill Anton assisting. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6 o' clock in the evening on Tuesday at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.
Severo was born on December 22, 1936 to Severo Sr. and Victoria Perez in Goliad, Texas. He lived his adult life in Lockney and Plainview. Severo began as a migrant worker who worked as a ginner for 40 years at Crume Gin in Providence. He was self-employed for many years in the farming community after retiring from the gin. Severo was a life-long member of the Catholic Church and served as an Usher and Eucharistic Minister at his church for many years. He will be remembered as hard-working family man and will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Severo, Sr. and Victoria Perez, and his siblings, Pablo Perez, Maria Garcia, Enriquez Perez, Jose Perez, Rosendo Perez, Carmen Garcia, Abel Perez and Enedina Burkett.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Hope Perez; 5 daughters: Melissa Perez, Norma Soto and husband Pedro, Teresa Chavez and husband Luis Jr., Laura Perez and Aaron Kessler and Lisa Perez. He adored his 5 grandchildren: Anthony Perez, Amanda Alvarez and husband Tony, Ashton Hawkins, Alec Chavez and Adyson Chavez. He equally loved his 3 beautiful great-grandchildren: Kai Perez, Kingston Perez and Amree Alvarez. He is also survived by his sisters: Ofelia Perez and Avelia Salazar and brothers: Ray Perez and Rudy Perez and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
