Obituary

Sallie Jimenez 70, of Hale Center, passed away on February 10, 2023. The family of Mrs. Jimenez will host a visitation on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 1:00pm at Gethsemane Baptist Church with Pastor Sergio Bernal officiating. Interment will follow in Hale Center Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Sallie Jimenez was born in Marlin, Texas on May 22, 1952, to Gilbert Magallan and Placida Macias Arredondo. She was a graduate of Hale Center High School. She married Joe Angel Jimenez, on May 27,1972 in Hale Center.

Sallie enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, baking, photography, thrift shopping, and spending time with her family. She loved singing and enjoyed writing songs and poems. She especially loved being a Nana to her grandchildren and was an incredible, devoted, mother to her six daughters and a loyal, loving, wife to her husband, Joe. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last spring. She was the cornerstone of her family and will dearly be missed.

She was devoted to serving people and volunteering at numerous non-profit organizations in her community. She knew no stranger and always went out of her way to make everyone she met feel important and welcome. She was a devout servant of the Lord and a lifetime member of the Church of God of the First Born of Hale Center, where she was a bible study leader and Sunday school teacher. She was humble and always took the opportunity to tell everyone she encountered, how great God was in her life.

Sallie is survived by her husband, Joe Angel Jimenez; her six daughters: LouAnn Gore (Tom Gore) of Plano, Texas, Abigail Gutman (Matt Gutman) of Fort Worth, Texas, Michelle Castillo (Damian Castillo) of Lubbock, Texas, Elsie Jimenez of Lubbock, Texas, JoAngela Jimenez (Jong Hwan Kim) of Austin, Texas and Brittany Espinosa (Steven Espinosa) of Lubbock, Texas; three grandchildren: Madison Castillo, Ethan Gutman and Brooke Gutman; two sisters: Lupe Rodriguez of Waxahachie, Texas and Eva Maugherman of Gary, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sallie is preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Placida Magallan and a brother, Joel Magallan.

Pallbearers will include her son-in-laws and oldest grandchild.
