Ruth Mitchell, 94 formerly of Plainview, passed away October 9, 2023, in Austin. The family of  Mrs. Mitchell will have a visitation on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 5:00pm-8:00pm at Lemons Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 18, 2023,at 1:00pm, at Lemons Memorial Chapel officiated by Pastor Jeffrey Vera of Lubbock, Texas. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Funeral services are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.

Ruth was born in Weslaco, Texas to Rev. Arnulfo Lopez and Susana Reyna. Ruth graduated from Valley Baptist Academy in Brownsville, Texas in 1951. Ruth married the love of her life Benito Mitchell on December 24, 1954. She dedicated her life to being a teacher's aide and loved every minute of it. She enjoyed sewing and thrift shopping. Ruth was a special person to her family and friends. She enjoyed the Women's Group of the Church at Alfa Y Omega in Plainview, Texas. She enjoyed all the church activities.

Ruth is survived by her daughters; Sylvia Mitchell of Plainview, Texas and Cynthia Lopez and husband John of Leander, Texas; her son, Richard Mitchell of Henderson, Texas; her four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one brother, Arnold Lopez Jr. of Plainview, Texas; and three sisters, Esther Arrendondo of Monroe, Louisiana, Ofelia Lopez of Plainview, Texas and Elizabeth Richardson of Plainview, Texas.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Benito Mitchell; her parents, Rev. Arnulfo and Susana Lopez; and five sisters, Anita "Nancy" Carter, Rebecca Mendoza, Naomi Fitchett, Rachel Camargo, and Bertha Rogers.
