Rosa Zuniga, 77 of Plainview, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021. Services for Mrs. Zuniga will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Iglesia Metodista Unida San Juan in Plainview with Pastor Inakis Lopez officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday March 24, 2021 at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home.
Rosaelia Favila Zuniga was born January 31st, 1944 in Sonora, TX to Federico Favila Sr. and Paula Castro Favila. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1963. She married Mario Zuniga Sr. in Plainview, TX in 1966 and they had 6 children together. Rosa received her Associates in Applied Sciences Degree in Human Services in 1978 from South Plains College before working with South Plains Community Action and the Texas Migrant Group. In her spare time Rosa volunteered with the Plainview Chamber of Commerce, Meals on Wheels, The Salvation Army, and The Barrio Restoration Committee. Because of this she was awarded the Plainview A.L.A.S Award and the "Best Bell Ringer" Award from the Salvation Army. She was an active member of San Juan Methodist Church where she attended regularly. Rosa loved sports and was a die hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Tech Athletics, and the Texas Rangers.
She is preceded in death by her parents Federico Favila Sr. and Paula Castro Favila, a daughter Victoria Zuniga, and 3 siblings: Armando Favila, Lydia Razo, and Emundo Favila. Rosa leaves behind her husband Mario Zuniga of Plainview, TX, 4 siblings: Espiridion Favila of Plainview, TX, Federico Favila Jr. of Amarillo, TX, Delores Lafuente of Plainview, TX, and Lucia Santana of Abilene, TX as well as 5 children: Priscilla and David Hernandez of Hale Center, TX, Mario Zuniga Jr. and Sandy Zuniga of Hale Center, TX, Lisa Amador of Hale Center, TX, Jennifer and Richard Cerbantez of Hale Center, TX, and Sergio Zuniga of Plainview, TX. Rosa's Legacy also includes 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren with 1 on the way.
