Rosa M. Perez Marquez, 47, of Plainview, was called upon home on Tuesday, August 27, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Plainview with Father Raymundo Manriquez officiating. Interment will follow the service in Plainview Cemetery. Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 2, 2013, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Marquez was born on August 31, 1965 to Josefina Hernandez Soto and Daniel Perez Martinez in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico. She married Abelardo Ortega Marquez on July 1, 1988, in El Paso, Texas. They moved to Sunland Park, New Mexico for two years, and then moved to Plainview. Mrs. Marquez enjoyed company from her family, and she was a great cook. She enjoyed traveling, she loved to camp, and she was a Cowboys fan. She loved to enjoy the early morning, so she sat outside on her porch, and also during the day. She loved to wear her purple or zebra sunglasses, and she loved to play bingo. She loved her grandbabies oh so much! Her grandbabies called her 'Mama Rosa'. She was an amazing wife and loving mother. She will be greatly missed by her family and close friends.
Rosa is survived by her husband, Abelardo Marquez, of Plainview; her mother, Josefina Hernandez Soto, of Leon, Mexico; her children: Jimmy Marquez and his wife, Elizabeth Diaz Marquez; Janet Marquez and her husband, Angel Diaz; and Jennifer Marquez; her grandchildren: Yaneli Jaramillo, Yarizel Marquez, Jocelynn Diaz, Elijah Marquez, Ezequiel Diaz, and Santiago Marquez, all of Plainview; and her brothers and sisters, all from Leon, Mexico. She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Perez Martinez.
