Roberto Garza was born on July 20, 1947 in Arkansas, to Valentine Garza Sr. and Hortencia (Sandoval) Garza. He and Anita Flores were married in Plainview in October of 1964. Roberto was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was very involved with the church. As a musician, whether playing the lead guitar or the bass guitar, he played in many weddings, quinceañeras, and funerals, both at Sacred Heart and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Roberto was an extremely generous man who was always there to help whenever anyone called. He worked for many years as a welder at Lilie Hoffman Cooling Towers and Lumber Company.
Roberto is survived by his loving wife of over 49 years, Anita Garza, of Plainview; children: Robert Garza and his wife, Angel Urrutia of Lubbock; Linda Garza, Arnulfo "Shorty" Garza, and Esmeralda Garza, all of Plainview; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, four sisters, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three grandchildren: Adam Salinas, Donald Ray Garza, and Monique Garza.
The Garza family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Area Community Hospice, and to Daniel of Accolade Hospice, for their awesome and excellent care given to Roberto.
