Plainview- Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014 for Rita Fay Barns at the College Heights Baptist Church in Plainview with Pastor Don Robertson officiating. Mrs. Barns was called home by the Lord on Friday April 25, 2014 at the age of 96. Mrs. Barns was born on July 14th 1917 in Vernon Texas to W D Hollars and Mamie Mae Wilson Hollars. Mrs. Barns was a long time resident of Plainview and member College Heights Baptist Church. She married Charles Thomas West on August 8th 1937 in Vernon Texas. Mrs. Barns was a nurse, homemaker and a talented artist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband Charles Thomas West, a daughter Barbara June West Wilson, a step daughter Billie Ruth West Barber, five sisters Joyce Maxine Hollars, Drucilla Ruth Stout, Beryle Jean Thompson, Mary Jo Richie and Eurice Lee White and four brothers Jerald Don Hollars, James Wilson Hollars, Denzil Dee Hollars and Bill Hollars, a granddaughter Misty West,and a great-granddaughter Amy Reed

Mrs. Barns is survived by her son Charles West of Garden City, KS, her son Jerry West of Lawton, OK, one brother Bob Hollars of Plainview, TX, eleven grandchildren, over twenty great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Memorial contributions can be made to the Area Community Hospice of Plainview.
