Ray Johnston, 50 of Plainview, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery. A Viewing will be held from 1 o'clock until 8 o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.
Ray was born on September 11, 1970 in Amarillo, Texas to Edward Earl and Betty Ann (Gowin) Johnston. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1990 and joined the United States Army.
He married Lena K. Ziegler and they were married for 30 years. Ray was a Master Mechanic and specialized in diesel engines and was one of the best in Texas. He enjoyed flying model airplanes, NASCAR, drag racing, four wheeling, boating, camping, fishing, shooting guns and farming. He was a member of the Elks Club.
Ray is survived by his wife, Lena K. Johnston; four sons, Justin, Matthew, and John Johnston all of Plainview and Edward (Destinee) Johnston of Lubbock; two daughters, Ashley and Chelsea Johnston both of Plainview; one brother, Scott (Emy) Johnston of Lubbock and one sister, Amanda Johnston of Plainview. He is preceded in death by his parents.
