Randy Gene
Grier
Mar 12, 1954 — Sep 29, 2026
Olton, Texas
Randy Gene Grier, 72, passed away on September 29, 2026, in Olton, Texas, surrounded by the love and presence of his family. He was born March 12, 1954, in Grand Saline, Texas, to Thurston Eugene Grier and Nina Lee Ritch Grier. Randy spent the majority of his life in the Fort Worth area.
Randy was an incredibly hardworking man who could do just about anything. Throughout his life, he worked with trees, roofs, houses, and handyman projects of all kinds. He took great pride in his work and was known for working tirelessly until the job was done. But no matter how busy he was, Randy always made time for the people he loved.
Family meant everything to Randy. He was a devoted son who loved and cared deeply for his mother and was incredibly proud of his father, an Army Sergeant. That same devotion carried into his own role as a father. Raising his children was one of his greatest joys and proudest accomplishments, and he shared a unique and incredibly strong bond with each of them.
With his son, Chad, Randy shared countless memories through baseball. Even while working long hours, he made it a priority to practice with Chad and be there for his games. Those years together reflected the kind of Father Randy was—present, proud, and always willing to make time for his son.
With his daughter, Karlee, Randy shared an equally special bond. He affectionately called her “Baby Face” and took her to every father-daughter dance. He was immensely proud of her, calling her “a true angel on earth.” While talking about Karlee to a friend, Randy once simply said, “Karlee is like gold.” His words reflected the love and pride he carried for his daughter throughout his life.
Randy was hilarious, often without even trying to be. He was thoughtful, dependable, caring, selfless, and incredibly giving—the kind of man who truly would give someone the shirt off his back. His faith was an important part of his life, and at one time, Randy attended Bible college with the intention of becoming a pastor. Although his life ultimately took him down a different path, his faith remained strong throughout his life, and he loved his family deeply.
Randy enjoyed traveling, being near the water, and he was a true foodie who loved a good meal. But his greatest passion was chasing storms. He was fascinated by the power and beauty of severe weather and loved getting out on the road to follow a storm whenever he had the chance. Storm chasing was simply part of who Randy was, and it will forever be one of the things his family and friends remember most about him.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Thurston Eugene Grier and Nina Lee Ritch Grier; his brother, Dwight Wesley Grier; and his sister, Mary Darlene Bare.
He is survived by his son, Chad Grier of Abilene, Texas; his daughter, Karlee Walters and her husband, Brady Walters, of Olton, Texas; his sister, Cynthia A. Hill; along with extended family, friends, clients, and the many people whose lives he touched throughout the years.
Randy worked hard, loved deeply, gave generously, and brought plenty of laughter along the way. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and memories that will continue to be shared by the people who knew and loved him most.
Randy’s family will gather privately to celebrate his life, share their favorite stories, and honor the man they loved so deeply.
