Rafel "Ralph" Esquibel, 64 of Plainview, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022. A viewing will be held at 4:00pm, Wednesday, March 16, 2022, with a Holy Rosary following at 7:00pm, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father George Poonely officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home.

Rafel was born on July 16, 1957, in Dimmitt, Texas to Reyes and Victoria (Loera) Esquibel. He graduated from Abernathy High School in 1976. Rafel married Minerva Luera on August 27, 1977, in Abernathy, Texas. He was a groundsman for 38 years. He loved all sports and enjoyed playing volleyball and softball and was an avid Texas Tech fan. He also enjoyed grilling and barbecue competitions.

Rafel is survived by his wife, Minerva Esquibel of Plainview; one son, Ralph Esquibel, Jr. of Plainview; two daughters, Veronica Esquibel of Plainview, and Maricella Esquibel of Lubbock; his mother, Victoria Esquibel of Lubbock; two brothers, Lonnie and Michelle Esquibel of Lubbock and Rene Esquibel of San Antonio; two sisters, Lydia Rodriguez of San Antonio and Ofelia and Robert Esquivel of Lubbock, and four grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, Reyes Esquibel; three brothers, Ray, Roy, and Rosendo Esquibel, and one niece, Leslie Gomez.
