Obituary

-Price Wylie, 93, formerly of Plainview, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013, in Littlefield, Texas. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Northwest Church of Christ of Plainview. J Henderson and Lou Ballenton will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013, at the funeral Home.
Denzle Price Wylie was born in Lubbock County on January 21, 1920, to William Oscar Wylie and Bessie Moss (Lewis) Wylie. He moved to the Providence Community in 1937 and served with the 4th Infantry U.S. Army from December 1941 to November 1945. He returned to Plainview and worked for the Plainview Creamery where he made cheese. In 1948 he began working for Farbarker Plumbing. Price owned and operated Wylie's Plumbing from 1956 until retiring in August of 1998. He and Wanda Starkey were married March 14 1945 at South Plains. She preceded him in death on June 1, 1979. Wylie continued to make his home in Plainview, was a member of the 11th and Amarillo Street Church of Christ, and was active in the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also was a Scoutmaster of Boy Scout 250 from 1962 to 1970, a committee member of the Boy Scout Council from 1971 to 1979 and from 1981 to 1985, and was inducted into the Boy Scout Hall of Fame on January 22, 1993. He loved to play bingo and 'washer-toss' at the nursing home in Littlefield. Price was a member of the Church of Christ.
Price is survived by his children: Ann Humphreys and her husband, Norman, of Amherst, Texas; and Kathy Berna and her husband, Vic, of Tucson, Arizona; his brother, Oscar Ray Wylie and his wife, Doris, of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda; son, Devon Wylie; daughter, Shirley Pandolfi; five sisters, and one brother.
The Wylie family suggests memorial donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101, in lieu of flowers.
