Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview with Monsignor Arsenio Redulla as celebrant. Interment will follow at Kress Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.
Pedro was born on January 16, 1929 in Uvalde, Texas to Leonard and Sierria (Hernandez) Morales. He married Ramona Amador on March 20, 1957 in Uvalde and they moved to the Plainview area in July, 1957 and settled in Kress. Together they had a large, beautiful, blessed family.
Pedro proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War, Infantry Division. After his service in the military, he was a farmer for many years in Claytonville and Center Plains. He then enjoyed a career working for the City of Kress until his retirement. Pedro was a baseball enthusiast. He managed a baseball team "Los Tremendos Aztecas de Kress" from 1965-1979 and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Edward Moncada in January, 2012; one daughter, Jesusa Lira in 1998; one brother, Lupe Gomez and three sisters, Rosa Morales, Linda Gomez and Ramona Morales.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Ramona; three sons, Reverend Pedro Morales, Jr. of Waxahachie, Francisco Morales of Plainview and Daniel Morales of Kress; three daughters, Maria Treviño of Fate, Texas, Estella Rodriguez of Waco and Lupe Rojas of Kress; two brothers, Ray Gomez and Domingo Gomez and two sisters, Carmen Tobar and Estella Cuellar. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and over 36 great-grandchildren.
