Obituary

Opal Faye Davis-Youngblood-Boone-Shelton, age 84 of Plainview died peacefully at home on July 26, 2016 surrounded by her family. Chapel services for Opal will be at 2:00p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Lemons Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow in Olton Cemetery. An all day viewing will take place on Friday, July 29th at Lemons Funeral Home from 9:00a.m. 5:00p.m.
Opal was born on October 30, 1931 to W.R. and Jennie (Holmes) Davis in Nelda, TX. She moved to Olton, TX in 1941 and then to Plainview in 1947 when she married her first husband and the father of her 5 children, Jack Youngblood. She continued to live in Plainview until her death. Opal loved to fish and play table games with her family. Their favorites included different types of card games, Yahtzee, and Dominoes. Another of Opal's hobbies was quilting. She made quilts for the public and sold them and she made quilts for family and friends .
Opal worked in many Plainview businesses including Grahams, Holiday Inn, Nu Griddle, and the Salvation Army Thrift Store. She was a Sunday School Teacher at the Salvation Army Church for many years.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Connie, Jenna, and Debbie of Accolade Hospice and a very special thank you to her granddaughters, DiAnn, Keturah, and Faye.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents; 3 husbands, Jack Youngblood, Jim Boone, and Mel Shelton; son, Chuck Youngblood; great-granddaughter, Rosea P. Morales; 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Mary Lou Youngblood of Plainview; sons, Jeffrey Youngblood of Oklahoma, David Youngblood of Plainview, and Jackie Youngblood of Lubbock; her beloved fur babies, Frazier and Bit of the home; sister, Rosie Biggs of Tucson, AZ; brothers, L.T. Davis of Olton and George Davis of Plainview; 5 granddaughters, Lurilla Faye Block (David)of Edmonson, TX. Mary DiAnn Duffy (Richie) of Long Lane, MO. Keturah Joanna LaFaver of Long Lane, MD., Stacie Timmermans (Kevin) of Seattle, WA. And Kelly Youngblood of Chicago, IL; 10 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Ashton, Allen, Elicia, Crista, Eugene, Aaron, Arthur, Rabecca, and Sennet; and 8 great-grandchildren, Daiman, Emily, Chayse, David, Jade, Lucas, Russell, and Janie; and other extended family members.
