Ola Mae Goodwin was born on August 27, 1935 in Teague/Mexia, TX to Melvin and Missionary Peggy Tatum where she also attended school. She grew up on a farm, and strong christian Church of God In Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) household. Her family relocated to West Texas, and that's where she met Ira Joe Goodwin. They got married on July 24, 1955 in Muleshoe, TX. They got divorced almost two decades later, but she never remarried. They had five children: Predenia (Sweetie), Lorette (Baby Doll), Don (Baby Don), Trampas (Baby Tramp), and Lashell (Baby Shell).

Sis. Ola Mae gave her life to Christ at a very young age of 5 years old. She and her mother Missionary Peggy Tatum traveled to many revivals and churches throughout Texas and New Mexico. They were the first members of Jackson Chapel. C.O.G.I.C. in Tulia. TX under the honorable pastor and wife Superintendent Henry Jackson and First Lady & Minister Nanny Jackson. She was an active member, steadfast teacher of her younger siblings, her children and others when it came to the word of God; as well as an anointed singer and drum player. She was also a member of Jackson Chapel under the teachings of Elder Melvin Tatum Sr. and Bishop David Haynes. She was a C.O.G.I.C. member most of her life, but her daughter moved her membership to First Baptist Church where she was blessed to be a member for the last 8 years.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; both maternal and paternal grandparents; one son, Ira Donette Goodwin; one sister Fannie Lee Gentry (Neil Gentry); and one grandchild, Madisson Ugiagbe.

Sis. Ola Mae is survived by her four children whom she loved unconditionally,  Predenia Grantham (Lance Grantham) of Tulia, TX, Ola Lorette Filipe (Victor Filipe) of Ft. Worth, TX, Trampas Goodwin Sr. of Houston, TX, and Lashell Goodwin of Lubbock, TX; two sisters, First Lady and Minister Patsy Lavern Brown (Apostle Charles Brown-deceased) of Houston, TX and First Lady Missionary Felictima Brown (Elder Leo Brown Sr.) of Hereford, TX; one brother, Elder Melvin Lewis Tatum Sr. (First Lady Evangelist Patsy Ruth Tatum-deceased) of Liberal, KS; one uncle, Mason Thomas of Mexia, TX; fourteen grandchildren oldest to youngest, LaDedrea, Terris, Kerisha, Loryn, Justice, Moriah, Trampas Jr., Jayden, JaQuaylon, Kobe, Isaiah, Mikayla, Xavier, and Paris; seven great grandchildren, and a host of special beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
