Ofelia Castillo, 89 of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at her residence. A visitation will be held from 5:30pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Lemons Funeral Home and a viewing will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 8:00am-8:00pm, with a Prayer service being held at 6:15pm to 7:15pm at Lemons Memorial Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Trinity Life Church. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.
Ofelia was born in Falfurrias, Texas on July 12, 1936, to Jorge Jose Martinez and Concepcion Aleman Martinez. She married Juan B. Castillo on November 9, 1963, in Lockney, Texas. They were married until his passing on July 4, 2017.
Ofelia was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan who also enjoyed sewing blankets, canning, going to church, reading, and loved watching novelas. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan B. Castillo; two sons, Juan Castillo, Jr., and Isabel Castillo; grandson, James Mata, great-grandson, Joseph Mata; parents, Jorge and Concepcion Martinez; brother, Juan Sarmiento, and two sisters, Esmeralda Castillo, and Adelida Martinez.
Those left to cherish her memories are her three sons, Pedro Castillo (Deana) of Ratliff, Oklahoma, Rene Castillo of Plainview, and Daniel Castillo (Gerri) of Guymon, Oklahoma; her five daughters, Marina Herrera (Frank) of Lubbock, Dina Castillo, Margarita Castillo, Irene Lucio (Ricky), and Diamantina Nicholas (Melvin) all of Plainview; one brother, Ovidio Martinez of Seagraves, Texas, and one sister, Maria Castillo of Falfurrias, Texas; thirty grandchildren, sixty-nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
