Plainview- Phillip Michael Newsom, age 65, of Plainview, known by family and friends as Mike, passed away on January 22, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2015 at College Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Smith and Chaplain Oscar Chavez officiating. Interment will follow at the Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home.
Mike was born on February 4, 1949 to Raymond Avis Newsom and Mary Jo (White) Newsom in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a retired school counselor. Mike was a member of College Heights Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Jo "Jodi" Newsom of Oklahoma; his sons, Chris Newsom and wife Amanda of Keller, Jeff Newsom and wife Danielle of Lubbock, Travis Newsom and wife Mary Ann of Plainview; grandchildren, Lauren, Owen, Abbi, Gage and Emily Erin; and sister, Cheryl Bigham of Oklahoma.
