IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Miguel De
La Fuente
June 14, 1959 – March 2, 2023
Miguel De La Fuente was born on June 14, 1959, in Mercedes, Texas. He went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 2, 2023, after a brief illness.
Miguel loved nothing more than his beloved wife Nellie of forty years. Together they raised three children, Sulema Tamayo-Diaz, Yvette Gomez, and Nathan Martinez, and four granddaughters, Rachelle Meza, Scarlette-Saul, Emily, and Yaquelin Gomez.
Miguel was a proud graduate of Floydada High School. He was a gentle man who lived a quiet life and was a collector of many things. He had a huge collection of toy cars, tractors, and coins. His greatest passion was farming. He worked as a farmer all his life. It was what he loved to do and just as every farmer puts his land to rest for the winter, God has put this farmer to rest. He has left an unbearable void. We can never deny the pain that our family must carry, but I would like us to remember him as a blessing and a lesson. I want to treasure the life he shared with us over the pain that his death has brought us. Rest in eternal peace dear brother. You will live on forever in our hearts.
Miguel was predeceased by his parents, Manuel and Dolores De La Fuente, and his brothers, Alfonso, Roberto, and Jesus De La Fuente.
Miguel is survived by his wife Nellie De La Fuente, their children, and grandchildren, and his 10 brothers and sisters: Antonio De La Fuente of Floydada, Lupe De La Fuente of Hart, Jose De La Fuente of Mercedes, TX. Maria Cuellar, Dolores DeAnda, Estella Salinas and Ofi McCown of Floydada, Rosa Castro of Brownfield, Hortencia Reynoso of Denver City and Petra Trevino of Edinburg, TX.
A visitation will be held in Miguel's memory on Monday, March 6, 2023, from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm with a Prayer Service to be held at 6:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, all will take place at Templo Getsemani Assembly of God at 701 W. Missouri St. Floydada, Texas. Interment will follow in Floydada Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.
Antonio De La Fuente, Guadalupe De La Fuente, Renan Mata, Pablo Salinas Jr. Scarlette-Saul Gomez, Jaime Cuellar, Luis Lopez, Jr. will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Nathan Martinez and Simon Hernandez Jr. and Eduardo Lopez
