Melba Rios, 64 of Plainview, passed away Monday, July 10, 2023 at her residence. Memorial Services will be scheduled at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the care of the Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Melba was born on December 20, 1958, in Lockney, Texas to Luis Castillo and Pilar Lopez. She graduated from Plainview High school in 1977 and she worked for Plainview ISD. She also volunteered and served the community by talking to people about the bible.

Melba was an avid collector and enjoyed scrapbooking, taking pictures for her photo albums, making jewelry, and flowers. She loved her cat and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Melba is survived by her husband, Bobby Rios of Plainview, Texas; her two sons, Roberto Rios Jr. and wife Victoria of Pearland, Texas and Michael Ray Rios of Plainview, Texas; two daughters, Monica Joseph of Denton, Texas and Mandee Gamboa and husband Jonathan of Krum, Texas; seven grandchildren, Ezra Rios, Eli Rios, Ava Rios, Ellianna Gamboa, Vencent Gamboa, Kamron Gamboa and Catalaya Gamboa; her mother, Pilar Lopez of Lubbock, Texas; three brothers, Alvarado Castillo of Rome, Georgia, Ray Castillo of Plainview, Texas and Rene Lopez of Plainview, Texas; four sisters, Amanda Castillo of Warsaw, Indiana, Elsa Wyatt of Oregon, Pilar Casias of Lubbock, Texas and Lucy James of Jacksonville, Texas.

Melba is preceded in death by her father, Luis Castillo Sr.; one sister, Maria Castillo; two brothers, Luis Castillo Jr., and Rafael Castillo.
