Obituary

Melba Diana Herrera, 64 of Plainview, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in Lubbock. Visitation for Ms. Herrera will be held at 4:00pm until 8:00pm, with a Holy Rosary being recited at 6:00pm, Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, May 1, 2026, with Father Angelo Consemino officiating at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Cremation services are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview. 

Melba was born on March 18, 1962, in Edinburg, Texas to Valeriano Diaz and Victoriana Garza. She was a graduate of Plainview High School. Melba was a Special Education Assistant at Highland for 25 years. She touched the lives of many students.

Melba was a woman who brought light, style, and strength wherever she went. She was truly a diva in the best sense of the word—she loved to dress up, never missed a moment to shine, and took pride in always looking her best. From her jewelry to her purses, every detail reflected her vibrant personality. Her hair was always done, her makeup always flawless, and her presence always unforgettable.

Beyond her love for fashion and beauty, Melba will be remembered for her spirit, her resilience, and the way she made others feel. She had a presence that could fill a room and a personality that left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Though she is no longer with us, her style, her strength, and her unforgettable essence will live on in our hearts forever.

Melba is preceded in death by her parents, Valeriano and Victoriana Diaz; one brother, Marco Antonio Diaz, and one sister, Leticia Tinoco; a niece, Valorie Torres, and a nephew, baby Jorge Luis, Jr.

Above all, Melba loved her family and friends. They were the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her love was deep, unwavering, and felt by all who were lucky enough to know her.

She is survived by her brother, Jose Diaz, and her sister, Anna Lisa Diaz, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts forever.
