Obituary

Mary Berner, 93 of Plainview, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, December 13, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Mary was born on October 2, 1932, in Dalhart, Texas to Steve and Ruba Gay. She graduated from Boles Home High School and later went on to become a hairdresser. She married Harold Berner on September 14, 1952, in Tulia, Texas. They shared fifty-eight beautiful years together before his passing on May 11, 2011. They were blessed with five daughters. She faithfully raised her family in the Lutheran Church and was a loving wife and mother.

Mary was a member of the Mu Lambda Sorority in Kress and of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Plainview. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, square dancing and the company of her friends and family. She loved making clothes for her girls.

Mary is survived by five daughters: Rhonda Gibbs and husband Ronald of Amarillo, Cindy Storrs of Plainview, Patricia Ward and husband Sammy of Andrews, Melanie Belyeu of Hale Center, and Darlene Terrell and husband Patt Terrell of Plainview; ten grandchildren: Rustin Brent Gibbs and wife Lori of Madisonville, Andrea Walker and husband Gabe of Amarillo, Rachel Storrs and Travis Webb of Lubbock, Joel Storrs of Lubbock, Morgan Davila and husband Miguel of Andrews, Rebekah Fulenwider and husband Tyler of Plainview, Austin Terrell of Plainview, Tabetha Belyeu and Travis of South Dakota, Audrey Belyeu and Merced Juarez of Plainview, and Max Belyeu and wife Maci of Hale Center; six great grandchildren: Logan Ellis of Amarillo, Jace Gibbs of Madisonville, Addilyn Fulenwider, Malori Fulenwider both of Plainview, Tate Belyeu of Plainview and Bailey Belyeu of Hale Center; specials friends: Sarah Kunkel, Judy Bye, Ruth Obenhaus, and Eva Mae Koenning; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Berner; her parents, Steve and Ruba Gay; one son, Kenneth Edward Berner; one grandson, Jacob Storrs; two brothers, Steven Donald Gay Jr., and Ronald Dean Gay; one sister, Lois Marie Gay Reeves; and special friends, Betty Hingst and Billie Watson.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Prairie House Living Center and Traditions Health Hospice. The care we received was full of love and kindness.
