Martina Torrez, 94 of Plainview, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026. A mass of christian burial will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Plainview. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. Viewing will be held at 2:00pm until 8:00pm, with a Holy Rosary being held at 6:00pm, on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Martina was born in Ballinger, Texas on July 1, 1932, to Jose Angel Torres and Augustina Rodriguez. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Plainview.

Martina was a hard worker. She worked at Excel for many years, then later worked in a nursing home doing laundry, and became a caregiver at the age of 85.

Martina was a very caring and loving person. She would help anyone that needed help. Her ministry was in helping those that were incarcerated. She would send them cards and money. Many of them, when they were out of incarceration, would go and see her to thank her. She especially loved music and gathering with family during the holidays.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, by helping those in need and many cherished memories.

Martina is survived by her two sons, Fernando Juarez (Linda) of Van Couver, WA, and Joe Gonzales (Sandra) of Plainview; her daughter, Della G. Trevino (Steve Torres) of Lubbock; ten grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Marina Guerra; her parents, Jose and Augustina Torres; two grandsons, Augustine De los Santos, and Christian Trevino; one brother, Raymundo Villapando, and three sisters, Ramona Vera, Juana Ramos, and Manuela Guajardo.
