Mario Zuniga, Sr., 78 of Hale Center, passed away on April 18, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. Mario was born on January 18, 1947, in Carrizo Springs, Texas to Jacinto Zuniga and Julia Sanchez Zuniga. In 1966, he married Rosaelia Favila in Plainview, Texas. They were married for fifty-five years until her passing on March 21, 2021.

Mario enjoyed listening to music, and going out to eat, especially at his favorite restaurant, Chayos. He also liked watching old cowboy movies, baseball, and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved spending time with his grandchildren more than doing anything else.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Zuniga, daughter, Victoria Zuniga, his parents, Jacinto, and Julia Zuniga, two sisters, Consuelo Garcia and Juana Zuniga, and one brother, Pedro Zuniga.

Mario's legacy will live in the lives and memories of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his two sons: Mario Zuniga, Jr. of Olton, and Sergio Zuniga of Hale Center;  three daughters: Priscilla and David Hernandez, Lisa Amador, and Jennifer and Richard Cerbantez, all of Hale Center; one brother, Antonio Zuniga of Conway, Arkansas; six sisters: Rosa Balderas, Paula Villarreal, Gloria Vargas, all of Carrizo Springs, Texas, Linda McGill of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Olga Gonzales of Raleigh, Illinois, and Nieves Gonzalez of Fort Worth; and fifteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Mario Zuniga, Sr., 78 of Hale Center, passed away on April 18, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00pm, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Hale Center. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. Viewing will be at 4:00pm-8:00pm, Tuesday, April 22, 2025, with a Holy Rosary being recited at 6:00pm at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Funeral services are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Pallbearers will be, Erik Cerbantez, Gustavo Sanchez, Lawrence Small, Ethan Zuniga, Victor Lopez, and Josiah Natal.
