A memorial service will be held on September 12, 2025 at 6:00 pm at Abundant Life Church. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Maria Silva was born on August 12, 1937, in Tula, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She entered her eternal rest surrounded by the love of her family and the promises of God.

Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Juan Margarito Silva, and two of her precious daughters, Martha and Janie Silva. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, and love in the hearts of her family: daughters Esther Castorena of Lockney, TX, and Sarah Wallace and husband Rodney of Plainview, TX; sons Sammy Silva and wife San Juana of Lockney, TX, Tommy Silva and wife Mona of Hodgenville, KY, and Johnny Silva and wife Sara of Lubbock, TX. She was a proud grandmother to 5 granddaughters and 11 grandsons, and a cherished great-grandmother to 18 great-grandchildren. Each one was a source of joy and pride to her.

In 1956, Maria earned her degree in Stenography (Taquimeconografia) from Academia Comercial Estudios Profesionales in Victoria, Tamaulipas. Two years later, she journeyed to Floydada, TX, beginning a new chapter of life filled with faith and family. She married the love of her life, Juan, on January 12, 1965.

Maria used her talents and education to serve faithfully as secretary at Templo Bautista Salem and Primera Iglesia Bautista Lockney. Beyond her service to the church, Maria lived with a gentle spirit and a generous heart. She loved cooking and sharing meals with family, friends, and her church community. She worked tirelessly in the fields with dedication and instilled in her children the values of hard work, humility, and perseverance.

Maria found joy in the simple things, like walking, gardening, and knitting, but her greatest joy was found in her family and in her faith. She taught her children many important lessons, but above all, she taught them to love the Lord with all their hearts.

Her life was a reflection of Psalm 23, a life guided by her Shepherd with grace, faith, and love.
