Maria Felipa Martinez, 87, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015 surrounded by family. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Lemons Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery. Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.

Felipa was born August 23, 1927 in Charcas San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Juan Rodriguez and Apolonia Nerio. She married Abraham Martinez Sr. in 1947 in San Nicolas de La Garzas. Her family moved to Plainview from Raymondville, Texas in 1968. They were married until his passing in July, 1994.

Felipa enjoyed a life of ranching with her husband, and they supported the State Trooper Organization. She enjoyed attending church at Primera Iglesia Bautista.

Felipa was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and two sons.

Her survivors include five sons, Abraham Martinez Jr., Raul Martinez, Johnny Martinez, Edward Martinez and Rogelio Martinez; two daughters, Elena Navarrete and Blanca Lopez; 26 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; two sisters, Isabel Gonzales Rodriguez and Maria del Socorro Diaz.
