Maria Teodora Garcia, age 82, of Plainview, passed away December 8, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park. Arrangements under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home.
Maria was born on April 1, 1932 to Juan and Concepcion (Villarreal) Vasquez in San Miguel, Texas. She married Rodolfo L. Garcia Sr. in 1955 in Sweetwater. Rodolfo preceded her in death in 1974. Maria was a homemaker who loved sewing, gardening, crocheting and knitting. She was very family oriented and was a strong independent woman who raised her sons by herself after she was widowed. Maria was very strong in her faith and a proud member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Maria is survived by her three sons; Johnny Joe Garcia and wife Cindy, Jessie Garcia and wife Kathy, and Rudy Garcia Jr. and wife Esmeralda, her sister, Francisa Garcia, 13 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
