Maria Elena Garcia, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, of Plainview, passed away at the age of 73, surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, July 5, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. A visitation will be held from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Funeral service for Mrs. Garcia will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Lemons Memorial Chapel in Plainview at 12:00pm. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery. Funeral services are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Maria was born on January 24, 1953, in Lubbock, Texas, to Felipe M. Vargas and Manuela Silva Vargas. She attended Plainview High School. She married Frank Ramos with whom she shared 4 sons. She later married Richard Garcia. Maria worked as a Teacher Assistant at Texas Migrant Council, where she especially enjoyed caring for children.

Maria loved her family deeply, especially her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, and spending time with those she loved. When she was not with family, she liked playing slot machines with her friends.

Maria is survived by her husband, Richard Garcia; her four sons, Frank Ramos, Jr. of Dodge City, Kansas, Roman Gabriel Ramos and wife Alice of Granger, Indiana, Eddis Marco Ramos and wife Melissa A. of Lubbock, Texas, and Efrain Ray Ramos and wife Melissa of Sherman, Texas; three sisters, Diana Rivera, Patricia Cortez, and Lupe Acevedo, all of Lorain, Ohio; niece Barbara Vargas and husband Julian Castaneda of Lubbock Texas; fifteen grandchildren, and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Felipe and Manuela Vargas; one brother, Felipe Vargas; and two sisters, Cruza Martinez and Socorro Estrada.
