Maria Alicia Chavez, 75 of Plainview, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday December 28, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery. Viewing for Mrs. Chavez will be held at 2:00 PM, followed by a a Holy Rosary being recited at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.

Maria was born on December 19, 1948, in Robstown, Texas to Jesus and Matilde (Hernandez) Quilimaco. She married Ramiro Chavez on January 14, 1976.

Maria was a homemaker who enjoyed drinking coffee, going to the casinos, thrift store shopping, and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Matilde Quilimaco; her daughter, Becky Chavez; her grandson, Alfredo Alcala, Jr.; her five brothers: Juan, Jesus, Clemente, Joe and Roberto Quilimaco.

Maria is survived by her husband, Ramiro Chavez; three children: Edward Chavez and wife Norma, Norma Alcala and husband Alfredo, and Victoria Mireles and husband Juan all of Plainview; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
