Manuel Gonzalez was born on December 28, 1925 in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Manuel and Rita (Moralez) Gonzalez. He and Carolina Cisneros were married on December 31, 1949 in Bustamante, Mexico. They shared 50 years together before her death in 1999. Manuel was an extremely hard working man who farmed all his life. "Popo", as he was known to family and friends, was a loving father and grandfather. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Manuel is survived by his children: Esequiel (George) Gonzalez and his wife, Chriscelda, of Plainview; Lala G. Herrera and her husband, Roberto, of Kyle, Texas; Tila G. Hernandez and her husband, Rick, of Lubbock; Annette G. Saucedo and her husband, Roy; Carolina G. Salazar; Betty G. Rangel and her husband, Adolfo; and Elva G. Morales and her husband, Abel, all of Plainview; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; sisters: Aurora Cruz and Antonia Chapa, both of Fresno, California; brothers: Benito Gonzalez of Fresno, and Benjamin Gonzalez, of Bustamante, Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolina C. Gonzalez; a daughter, Yolanda; a grandson, Danny Herrera; a son-in-law, Pete Salazar Jr.; and a brother, Ramon Gonzalez.
The Gonzalez family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Area Community Hospice for their excellent care given to Manuel.
