Funeral services for Guadalupe Martinez, 68, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lemons Memorial Chapel with Associate Pastor Gilbert Flores of Templo Nueva Vida Floydada, officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. The devotional service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Lemons Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Martinez died Monday morning December 30, 2013 at Covenant Hospital Lubbock.
Guadalupe was born on April 30, 1945 to Guillermo and Josephina Zavala in Navasota, Texas. She married Herman Martinez in 1961 in Floydada, Texas. She enjoyed being a homemaker, singing, sewing and making tortillas for her family. She was a pastor's wife and worship leader of Templo Nueva Vida in Floydada.
She is survived by her husband Herman Martinez of Plainview, five daughters; Linda Nichols and husband Roger; Lupe Lee of Plainview, Sue Villarreal and husband Pedro; Leslie Flores and husband Gilbert, and Rebecca M. Ybarra and husband Michael. She is also survived by two sons, John and Sam Martinez. She is survived by 8 brothers and 4 sisters, and 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father Guillermo "Willie" Zavala and her mother Josefina Zavala.
