Obituary

A mother, a grandmother, a sister, and a friend, Lucy Estrada peacefully left this world on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the age of 68. Lucy was born on June 15, 1953, in Mathis, Texas and moved to Plainview, Texas at the age of 5 with her family. The life that Lucy made in Plainview took her on many memorable journeys. She was the only daughter of Ester Pena Gomez who lost her battle with cancer in 1973. Lucy never forgot her mother, frequently telling her own three children what an awesome grandmother her own mother would have been. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1971. She studied at Wayland Baptist College before she married and started her family. Lucy's children were her pride and joy. Lucy went to nursing school received her LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse license in 1989. She worked at Methodist Hospital Plainview which later became Covenant Hospital for twenty years before she retired. Her compassion made her great at her job. She was an amazing and intelligent woman with strength and conviction. She taught her children to be honest and respectful, brave, and strong. She was also kind and generous, and lived by the belief that those who give, receive. She loved her family and her friends. She kept her heart and her home open to those she cared for most. She gave so much, always recognizing the needs of others. Lucy was a hard worker and never asked for a handout. She repaid her debts and was always grateful for what she had.

Her grandchildren, Adriel Niki Robles (Rey), Ashley Edwards, Laynee Edwards, Maravia Vasquez, and her one and only grandson, Oliver Lukas Estrada.
