Lucio M. Vasquez, 73 of Floydada, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026. Viewing for Mr. Vasquez will be held at 4:00pm-8:00pm, Monday, April 13, 2026, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Trinity Life Church in Plainview with Pastor Steve Martinez officiating. Burial will follow in Floydada Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Lucio was born in Pearsall, Texas on July 22, 1952, to Luis Vasquez and Juanita Martinez Vasquez. He graduated from Floydada High School in 1970. He married the love of his life, Irma Briones, on December 23, 1988, in Floydada, Texas.

Lucio was an avid baseball fan, his favorite teams being the Texas Longhorns and New York Yankees. He loved playing softball and umpiring baseball, so much so that he did it for forty years. When he was not umpiring games, he would write poetry, sing, and watch western movies. He also loved the movies Field of Dreams and the Champ.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Juanita Vasquez; brothers: Luis Jr. “Winn,” Abel, Carlos, and Mike Vasquez; sisters: Virginia Vasquez, Olga Enriquez, Emma Sanchez, Lilia Garcia, and Teresa Deltorro.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Irma Vasquez of Floydada; two sons, Gregory Vasquez (Caessitte Lopez) of Lubbock, and Erik Vasquez (Christina) of Plainview; two daughters, Marcie Polk (Kevin) of Plainview, and Tiffany Guerrero (Joey) of Hale Center; one brother, Ricky Vasquez (Ilda) of Lubbock; fourteen grandchildren: Kylan Vasquez, Brianna Cansino, Matthew McHenry, Miracle Ellis, Erik Bryan Vasquez II, Jaivyn Guerrero, Jeremiah Guerrero, Brooklyn Vasquez, Xander Vasquez, Aralyn Vasquez, Lovelyn Vasquez, Sylus Guerrero, Camilla Vasquez, and another granddaughter on the way; and five great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
