Obituary

Mary Louise Latta Mallow, age 94, of Plainview, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2015 at her residence at Raider Ranch Assisted Living in Lubbock, Texas with her family at her side. A Celebration of Life will be held at College Heights Baptist Church in Plainview at 11:00a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the personal care of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Visitation will be held from 10-11a.m. on Friday morning at the church.
Mrs. Mallow was born on March 4, 1920 in Erath County, Texas, as the oldest of five children to Enoch and Desssie Saul Latta. Louise was a faithful follower of Christ and had been a member of College Heights Baptist Church for 30 years. She was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class. Her ministry of love was expressed through her wonderful cooking skills and serving on the Bereavement Committee. She was a 1938 graduate of Plainview High School. She obtained her Beautician License in 1940 and worked at Mary L. Spence Beauty Salon in Plainview. Louise married J.R. Mallow in October of 1942 and became a dedicated loving wife and homemaker. In 1999 Mrs. Mallow was recognized as Hale County Woman of the Year; having been a member of Hale County FCE Club at that time for over 46 years. She was a member of the Covenant hospital Auxiliary in Plainview and in 2011 received recognition as the oldest active, living auxiliary member. Louise moved from her home in Plainview to Raider Ranch Assisted Living in 2012.
Mrs. Mallow was preceded in death by her husband; J.R. Mallow in 1978; parents Enoch and Dessie Latta, brother; Richard Latta and wife Joan, and brother; Gordon Latta.
Those left to cherish her memory are one sister; Mrs. Billie Breeland of Phoenix, Arizona, one brother; Harold Latta and wife Patsy of Seminole, Texas, sister-in-law Ramona Mallow of Lubbock, Texas, and a large extended family of nieces nephews, and friends from all walks of life. The family would like to express great appreciation to all the loving, compassionate care givers and staff at Raider Ranch, and to the Area Community Hospice group.
