Obituary

Lonnie E. Baldwin, 71, of Plainview passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. A visitation for Mr. Baldwin will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm, at Lemons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00am, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Lonnie was born on February 26, 1955, in Lockney, Texas to Clevon and Eula Baldwin. Lonnie graduated from Plainview High School in 1974 and attended Wayland Baptist University before enlisting in the Army. Lonnie received the National Defense Service Medal and was Honorably Discharged in April of 1980 and later worked for Excel Beef packing plant.

Lonnie always had a good time DJing at the Social Charity Club in Plainview, and dancing. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Lakers fan and loved to ride his motorcycle.

Lonnie enjoyed life and enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to joke with others, especially with his son Shawn, who passed on April 5, 2024.

Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents, Clevon Sr., and Eula Baldwin; his son, Shawn Roberts; his sister, Ether Lane Smith; two grandchildren, Shamontae Jeanette Roberts, and Deshawdrick Roberts.

Those left to cherish Lonnie’s memory are his seven grandchildren, Tyron Riles, Jodeci Roberts, Jordyn Roberts, Ambrosha Kelly Roberts, Ormnie Kelly Roberts, Mearlina Kelly Roberts, and Shawndra Roberts; and three great-grandchildren. Lonnie is also survived by one brother, Clevon Baldwin, Jr. and wife Gwen of Fort Worth, Texas; four sisters, Ocie Toler of Plainview, Texas, Eula Johnson of Denver, Colorado, Ruby Ollison of Plainview, Texas and Billie Baldwin of Wichita, Kansas; one daughter-in-law, Diana Riles Roberts and many nieces and nephews.

The family of Mr. Baldwin would like to say thank you to the office of Dr. Horton, the VA clinic in Lubbock, his home health aide, Lorrie Hooks and Michael Keller, VA program director, for all your care and assistance.
