Obituary

Librado Samarripa, Sr., 94 of Plainview, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held at 4:00pm until 8:00pm, with a Holy Rosary being recited at 6:00pm on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.

Librado was born in Austin, Texas to Luz and Maria Samarripa on July 20, 1931. He married Maura Rodriguez in 1952, and they shared 60 years together before her passing in on May 16, 2013.

Librado worked at Excel for many years before retiring. He loved to garden and take care of his roses and tulips. He was known for being a jokester, for his phenomenal woodwork, and being an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. More than anything, he loved his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory are his four sons, Librado Samarripa, Jr. (Virginia) of Plainview, Texas, Pete Samarripa (Olga) of Plainview, Texas, Pablo Samarripa (Margaret) of Olton, Texas and Manuel Samarripa of Hereford, Texas; five daughters, Luisa Salazar of Topeka, Kansas, Rosa Perez of Hereford, Texas, Victoria Samarripa of Plainview, Texas, Reveca Amaya (Roy) of Lubbock, Texas and Linda James (Garrett) of Bastrop, Texas; one brother, Jessie Samarripa of Benavides, Texas; one sister, Natalia Rodriguez of Austin, Texas, nineteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, and sixteen great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Maura Samarripa; his parents, Luz and Maria Samarripa; three brothers, Eulalio Samarripa, Juan Samarripa, and Alfredo Samarripa; three sisters, Juana Maldonado, Bartola Reynero and Sandra Rodriguez.
