Lawrence Wayne Gilreath, 71 of Plainview, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022, at his residence. There will be no services at this time. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to the Lemons Funeral Home.

Lawrence was born on March 30, 1951, in Olton, Texas to George Lloyd Gilreath and Lorine Damron Gilreath. He graduated from Sudan ISD in 1969 and completed online courses for a Pastoral Degree. In 1975, Lawrence enlisted in the United States Army where he served 4 years. Lawrence married Cathy Rasmussen, July 22, 1999, in Burbank, California. He was a Pastor for Nazarene and Baptist churches until he retired. In between Pastoring, he would work wherever he needed  to support his family, he did a little bit of everything. People gravitated to and enjoyed being around him. He was kind and friendly to every that he ever met or came across.  His hobbies included fishing, video games and crafting, which he loved doing.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Cathy Gilreath of the home in Plainview; two daughters: Tina Hallare and husband Daniel of Corpus Christie, TX , Laura Leafty and husband Tim of Beeville, TX; two grandsons: Jerome Rozell of the home in Plainview and Christian Rozell of Corpus Christie, TX; two brothers: Bill Talley, and wife Nadine of Plainview, Steve Talley and wife Roberta of Houston; and one sister, Allene Edge of Lubbock;  and sister-in-law, Linda Talley of Plainview. He also leaves behind his two babies: Daisy, a chihuahua and LuLu, a chi-weenie.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, George, and Lorine Gilreath, three brothers and two sisters, and his beloved best chihuahua mix fur friend of 14 years, Pepper.
