It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Juanita Pineda, loving wife of Martin Pineda for 65-years and devoted member of the Catholic faith. Juanita was born to parents Preciliano and Santos Alonzo, on July 12, 1938, in the city of Cameron, TX.
Juanita was a graduate of Hale Center High School and went on to attend Draughon's business college. Juanita took time to tend to her family before proceeding to continue her education later on with the encouragement and support of her husband. Her love for learning and passion for teaching led her to attend Wayland Baptist University. Little did she know how much the professors would impact her life and way of teaching. Juanita was employed with Hale Center ISD for over 30 years where she not only taught ESL but created lifelong connections with the staff and students.
Juanita was devoted to St. Theresa's Catholic Church, serving as a secretary, teaching catechism, serving as a Eucharistic minister, led marriage classes, and served in many other capacities for the church. She was also a member of the priest retirement committee and finance committee at the diocese. Her empathy led her to helping many people not only within the community but wherever she felt there was a need.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jacinto & Sulema Alonzo, brother Alvin & Margaret Alonzo and her grandson Patrick Joaquin.
Juanita is survived by her husband, Martin Pineda and beloved cat Nena, son, David & Connie Pineda, daughter, Sarah Beth & Rudy Perez, and son, Bobby Pineda & Lisa Gonzales; sister, Frances Alvarez, and brother, Fernando & Delia Alonzo; granddaughters, Misty, Kaiti Jane, and Tamarity Jo; grandsons, John Martin, Aaron Ray, and Tyler Martin; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Atlas, Anakin, Caslyn, and soon to be Kyler, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
