Juan Torres, 80 of Plainview, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at his residence. A viewing for Mr. Torres will be at 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a Holy Rosary being recited at 6:00pm, Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 10:00am, Monday, September 23, 2024, at Lemons Memorial Chapel with Deacon Manuel Marin officiating. Cremation services are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Juan was born in Rio Grande, Texas on April 4, 1944, to Mateo Torres and Maria Moreno-Torres. He married Maria Elena on August 13, 1962, in Tulia, Texas. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview.

Mr. Torres worked at Harvest Queen Mill for 22 years until he retired and every morning, you could find him at McDonalds drinking coffee. He loved telling jokes and cooking out. He also enjoyed spending time playing pool, bingo or any card games, and gambling.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mateo and Maria Torres, six brothers.

Mr. Torres is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Maria Torres, three sons: Juan Torres, Jr. of Plainview, Santos Agaston Marquez of Mexico, and Brent Logan Mendoza of Plainview; three daughters: Margarita Torres and (Antonio Sosa) of Lubbock, Joanna Torres and (Rachel Penland) of Lubbock, and Jo Jazlyn Torres, of Plainview; one brother, Luis Torres of Rio Grande; two sisters: Maria Socorro Trevino of Kress, and Sofia Garcia and husband Saragosa of Rio Grande; seven grandchildren: Ashley Falcon, Kimberly Torres, Crystal Torres, Anastacia Sosa, Azariah Sosa, Haven Penland and Jakson Penland and nine great-grandchildren.
