IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Juan Alonzo
"Renegade" Esquivel
August 29, 1960 – January 5, 2026
Juan Alonzo "Renegade" Esquivel, 65, of Plainview passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and Friday, January 9, 2026, 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Lemons Memorial Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:00AM at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Cremation services are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.
Juan Alonzo "Renegade" Esquivel was born in Mexico on August 29, 1960, to Reynaldo Esquivel Sr. and Guadalupe Robles Esquivel. He married Sally Ybarra on June 5, 1978, and they spent forty-seven beautiful years together making many memories.
Juan spent many years working on the farm and eventually chose the path of truck driving on which he earned his call sign "Renegade." On his spare time, he enjoyed working on muscle cars. Being the father he was, he had no problem pointing out to his boys exactly what they didn't fix on their semi or vehicle and telling them how to do it the right way, guiding them with directions in life and on the road, and when it came to his daughters, he wasn't a man of many words so he just sat back quietly watched and sometimes shook his head while allowing us to make our choices and decisions, but in the end was always going to be there for us to lean on regardless of the situation or outcome for all of his children. Juan loved spending time on his zero-turn lawnmower, scratching lottery tickets, and watching his favorite westerns, especially Gunsmoke, though he was also known to enjoy his novelas. He was a jokester to his family, a true people-person, and someone who never met a stranger, he could carry a conversation with just about anyone. Juan was a hard worker throughout his life, and he faithfully provided for his family. He loved his dog, children, and grandchildren deeply, but above all, he loved his wife, Sally.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Reynaldo Esquivel Sr., and Guadalupe Robles Esquivel, and his father-in-law, Domingo Ybarra Jr.
Juan Alonzo "Renegade" is survived by his wife, Sally Esquivel of Plainview, Texas; his three sons, Alonzo Esquivel and wife Heather, Jose Armando Esquivel and wife Jacqueline, and Miguel Esquivel and wife Rachelle Barber all of Plainview, Texas; two daughters, Maricela Esquivel and Vanessa Esquivel both of Plainview, Texas; eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ernesto Esquivel and wife Diana and Reynaldo Esquivel both of Plainview, Texas; two sisters, Rosa Santos and husband Carlos of Andrews, Texas and Juanita Esquivel of Edinburg, Texas; and mother-in-law, Celestina Maria Ybarra.
