Juan Ortiz Medina, 84 of Plainview was born on May 27, 1928 in Beeville, TX to Edward and Benita (Ortiz) Medina. He married Hortencia Balderas in Odem, TX on September 27, 1955. They moved to Tulia in 1960 until relocating to Plainview in 1970. He resided there until his death. Mr. Medina was employed in livestock operations. His favorite hobby was fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Maggie Heilman, sons; Henry and Juan Manuel Medina, sisters;
Ramona Oballe, Dominga Medina, and granddaughter Stephanie Garcia. Survivors include his wife, two sons, Robert and Tess Medina of Lubbock, TX. David and Julie Medina of Plainview, TX. Five daughters, Lupe and Jimmy Georgeous of Cleveland TX. Elena and David Ybarra of Amarillo, TX. Silvia and David Gomez of Duncanville, TX. Wendy Medina of Plainview, TX. and Gracie and Jimmy Sanchez of Amarillo, TX. Three brothers, Edwardo Medina of Marble Falls, TX. Esteban and Juanita Medina of Shaftner, CA. and Adam Medina of Odem, TX. One Sister Delores Esquivel of Louisiana. He is also survived by twenty four grandchildren, fifty three great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Medina will be Monday, April 22, 2013 at Lemons Memorial Chapel burial will follow at Plainview Memorial Park, the family will have a prayer service on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services are Under the Direction of Lemons Funeral Home.
